Nina was born on 30th May 1977 in Ljubljana. At the age of nine (in 1986), she started to compete at the Yugoslavia go-kart championship. In 1989 she started to gain experience in competitions abroad. Her first successes among international competitors began. At the European championship in Denmark in 1992, she advanced to the finals among 120 competitors as the only female driver and gained the 13th starting position for the great finals in which she had to withdraw because of technical problems. Her talents and successes were soon noticed.
The Italian Tony Kart team, one of the most appreciated teams over the last decade, invited her to join them. Famous drivers like Michael Schumacher, Jarno Trulli and Jan Magnussen started their careers in this team as they choose only the best potential drivers. With the Tony Kart team Nina competed in the biggest go-kart competitions in Europe, the United States and Hong Kong. At the age of 16 she tested herself in the Ford formula and took part in some races in Australia.
The Italian national car club (ACI SCUOLA FEDERALE) invited her to their school where she successfully competed in the Formula Renault Campus. This school is intended mostly to train top-quality Italian drivers. Formula 1 World Champions Jacques Villeneuve and Ralf Schumacher also went to this school. Nina gained more experiences with the English team AEM (Anglo European Motorsport) in the Formula Opel Lotus and tourist cars category with the Italian team Jolly Club. She first competed in the GT cars competition at the Porsche Supercup Race in Zeltweg, which was one of a series of Formula 1 competitions, as part of the Porsche Farnbacher Motorsport team.
Nina has already earned 50 international wins and has been the Slovenian national champion in go-carting four times. The Slovenian car association (Avto-moto Zveza Slovenije) awarded her for her excellent achievements in the field of motoring.
Nina appears a lot in the media. She is well known abroad; the Finnish television broadcast a 5-minute contribution about her. She studies economics and works also as a sports journalist in the field of motoring at POP TV.
